Facing Transitions (2027)

Facing Transitions

Facing Transitions is a personal and visually driven performance that makes the first contours of change visible. It is a search for what happens when you find yourself on the threshold of a new phase. The body changes, habits shift, and familiar certainties begin to waver.

This time, choreographer Ann Van den Broek does not start from her own perspective, but from that of the individual performers: what does transition mean to them? With each dancer, Van den Broek explores a personal theme, a changing body, ageing, menopause, a shift in work or identity. Together, these stories form a vibrant database of transitions, both small and large, everyday and life-altering. By weaving these perspectives and fragments together, a multifaceted portrait of change emerges. The performers move between their own stories and those of others, revealing contrasts and unexpected connections.

Facing Transitions serves as a prelude to Ann Van den Broek’s next production, Transitions, in which themes of transition will be explored in greater depth. Facing Transitions highlights the richness of the creative process itself: vulnerable, powerful, and always in motion.
