Pushing The Wheel, is an intimate recollection of the past 15 years with a longing look to the future; consisting of spontaneous flashbacks and flash-forwards to old and new movement material.
The song ‘Jubilee Street’ by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds is an important starting point for the production. In addition, Nicolas Rombouts will create a live soundscape of the sounds made on stage and mixed with effects to create an alienating contrast with the song, manipulating the time and sound experience of the song without remixing the song itself. With cameraman Bernie van Velzen, filming live and projecting the images, Ann Van den Broek will take the audience on a journey that could almost be called psychedelic.

“The performance evolves as a boiler cookie in which past, present and future, dance, film, music and performance are boiled into something pure and essential.”– Theaterkrant (NL)
“Towards the end of the performance, everything is fully used: the music, the sound of stamping, the repeating movements, the live music by the microphone and varying extreme expressions on the faces of the dancers. An outbreak that describes best as a schizophrenic trip that you can go with.”– 8weekly (NL)
