Memory Loss Collective

Memory Loss Collective is a musical collective with Gregory Frateur, Nicolas Rombouts and Sjoerd Bruil. Under the name Memory Loss Collective they improvise on music from the Memory Loss Collection, a choreographic series by Ann Van den Broek in which the musicians were closely involved.

The musicians Nicolas Rombouts, Sjoerd Bruil and Gregory Frateur (among others known from Dez Mona), work with Ann Van den Broek for years now. Nicolas Rombouts as composer, Gregory Frateur as vocalist and performer and Sjoerd Bruil as musician and performer. The unique concert, created in collaboration with Ann Van den Broek, will take place in a special stage setting from the Memory Loss Collection, designed by scenographer Niek Kortekaas.

Online and offline premiere
The improvisation concert was screened and played for the first time in December 2020 in Theater Rotterdam via an online streaming. It was then part of a five-day in-depth event around the Memory Loss Collection by Ann Van den Broek and the associated theme of dementia. In May 2022, Memory Loss Collective made its debut for an audience in the hall of the Zuiderpershuis in Antwerp.

Memory Loss Collection
The Memory Loss Collection, from which this concert originates, is a collection of productions (2018-2020) by Ann Van den Broek on the theme of dementia. The final piece of this series, Memory Loss, has been nominated for a Zwaan in 2021 (the most important dance prize in the Netherlands) in the category ‘most impressive dance production’.
